About Me
Hello, I am Emily
.jpg)
I truly love working with individuals who struggle with perfectionism, people pleasing, and codependency. I specialize in helping these clients heal from early childhood trauma, including abandonment, emotional and/or physical abuse. Healing trauma allows clients to find out who they truly are without the effects of trauma and live a more fulfilling and authentic life.
Clients who appreciate my therapeutic style describe me as warm, empathetic, humorous, methodical, and results-oriented.
Through the therapeutic relationship, I help my clients feel safe and supported in therapy throughout the process. This is achieved by helping clients feel understood as well as helping them to realize that their personal struggles are part of a larger shared human experience.
I approach healing trauma as a problem to be explored and solved utilizing evidence-based therapeutic modalities. I rely on my intuition as well as my analytical skills to recognize the psychological pattern, define the problem, and implement the modality that best addresses the particular aspect of trauma.

I have over 10 years of experience helping clients heal from all types of mental health conditions. In that time, I have come to appreciate that the root cause of many psychological afflictions can be traced back to trauma. That is why I have devoted my practice to treating trauma as a way to help my clients heal at the source of their pain.

How I Treat Trauma
Therapeutic Modalities
At the core, trauma causes the individual to believe that he/she/they is not enough in some aspect and powerless to change or improve his/her/their condition. This results in the erosion of the individual's sense of self, sense of safety, and self confidence.
Because the consequence of trauma is multi-faceted, I employ a multi-pronged approach in treatment. Strategies I use to include several or all of the following:

stabilize the individual's "rattled" hypervigilant nervous system,
witness and validate the younger selves who experienced the traumatic event(s),
replace irrational negative beliefs with positive beliefs about the self,
quiet the intrusive thoughts that reminds the individual of his/her/their deficiency and vulnerability,
dismantle old patterns of unhealthy coping habits
EMDR
(resolve the emotional disturbance from the traumatic experience as well as negative beliefs)

Inner-Child Work
(target the young self who experienced the trauma)

CBT
(challenge intrusive thoughts)

Somatic Therapy
(relieve the nervous system from hyper-vigilance and activation)

Forgiveness Therapy
(release guilt and anger towards self and others)
You Are Interested
But Uncertain

If you are thinking about finally seeking therapy to heal your trauma, but wondering about what the process is like and hesitant to take the next step, you are not alone and your concern is shared by most of not all people who have undertaken this journey.

I understand your fear. I've been there myself, made it out the other side, and profoundly glad I went through it. I promise you will too. If you are afraid of what you will uncover when you go inward, just like I was at the beginning, be assured that you will find nothing scary or bad inside. What you will find and bring back with you is your childhood innocence and goodness.

I am here to guide and support you throughout the process, while at all times honoring what you are ready to take on and the pace you would like to go.
Online Therapy Rates
At this time, I only offer telehealth sessions via a secure HIPAA compliant platform called Simple Practice. You can use your computer, laptop, or telephone to access the platform through the app. It is straight-forward and simple to download and use.
I have found no difference in the therapeutic results working with clients in-person and through telehealth. I have, however, found that telehealth has the added benefit for clients who are distance- or time-constrained. If you have any concerns, please let me know and I can answer any question you may have about doing therapy online.
